Ever wonder what Honors students do during the summer? Instead of doing “traditional” blog posts this summer, Honors Ambassadors and students will be taking you into their summer routines via photos. Recent grad Jake Harry is interning at Virgin Galactic in LA and learning how to take selfies:
I’ve learned there are two things you can depend on daily in LA: (1) the weather will be nice (2) there will be gridlock traffic.
Ramen noodles aren’t just a meal for college students. They have been a staple of my post graduation diet and will continue to be so until they make something easier.
I took a trip to the Griffith Observatory, which has been in many movies over the years (the only one I can remember is Yes Man). It was cool to go inside and read all about astronomy and the telescopes, you can even see the Hollywood sign if I were to pan right. But my favorite thing about Griffith Observatory is that not only is the entrance 100% free, but so is parking if you do it right! I might have to go back sometime just to enjoy the free-ness.
Griffith Observatory thinks that science is pretty cool . . . I tend to agree.
Was lucky enough to get a tour of JPL and see where they receive information from a bunch of different satellites and probes, including the New Horizons spacecraft which will be zooming past Pluto (still a planet in my heart) on July 14th.
Shameless selfie attempt on the beach at sunset (I’m not very good).
A much better picture of the sunset . . . beautiful.
