Ever wonder what Honors students do during the summer? Instead of doing “traditional” blog posts this summer, Honors Ambassadors and students will be taking you into their summer routines via photos. Sara Stuedemann biked across the entire state last week for RAGBRAI:
This is the map of the entire route of RAGBRAI.
This is the team I was a part of for RAGBRAI. This picture was taken before we set off on our first day. Yes, two people in our group did long board all of RAGBRAI.
Sunrise over RAGBRAI. A lot of riders began early in the morning to beat that Iowa heat. We usually started around 7 am, but a lot of people left around 5 or 6 am.
This is the start of the day and the clouds were looking pretty stormy. Later that day, it downpoured and a lot of people had to take shelter in the middle town and wait it out.
I totally was not kidding about the long boarders.
This picture was taken shortly after finishing some really amazing homemade icecream at Beekman’s! Along the route, there was a lot of unique food venders such as Mr. Porkchop and Beekman’s. We went to Beekman’s three times over the course of RAGBRAI.
Interesting enough, there were closed roads on RAGBRAI and everyone had to walk their bike around the construction.
The slip-in-slides were the best especially on hot days!
We made it to the Mississippi River to dip our tires in signifying the end of RAGBRAI. It was definitely a pretty surreal moment!
