Ever wonder what Honors students do during the summer? Instead of doing “traditional” blog posts this summer, Honors Ambassadors and students will be taking you into their summer routines via photos. Honors Assistant Director Dana Schumacher visited Honors alum Curtis Ullerich at his company (a little place called Google):
A trip to Oakland, CA for the National Association of Fellowship Advisers conference offered an opportunity to take recent Honors grad Curtis Ullerich up on an offer to tour his workplace – Google!
Google is big. This is one of many buildings on many campuses in Mountain View, CA.
Like Honors students, the folks at Google work hard and play hard. Curtis showed me around the “play” part of the complex.
The bowling alley is next to the dance studio, which is adjacent to the climbing wall, which is near the giant outdoor chess set.
This is the entrance to the bowling alley. There’s a discernible color scheme…
Google takes the “green” in its palette very seriously.
Curtis demonstrates the “G-bike.” There are approximately a gazillion of these bikes around the buildings, unlocked and ready to roll. If you need to go to another part of the complex, you grab a bike and ride there. Somebody else will bring it back. Sometime. Thanks to Curtis for a great afternoon!
