Honors Summer Snapshots: Morgan

Ever wonder what Honors students do during the summer? Honors Ambassadors and students will be taking you into their 2016 summer routines via photos. Morgan Hassebroek is enjoying Chicago with medical nerds:

This summer, I have been playing Team Advisor at nerd camp. Yes, I said nerd camp. The National Student Leadership Conference on Medicine and Health Care at Northwestern University in Chicago has been my home for the last month. A day in the life of a Team Advisor is as follows:

First, a little team building.

Then, we spend some time honing our skills.

After lunch, we spend some time solving a crisis in many different countries of the world.

Then, we focus more on a public health topic and create/present a solution to the problem to a panel of highly influential world leaders (aka the other team advisors and myself).

After saving the world and becoming doctors, we get to have a little fun in Chicago.

So that’s what I do every day. But in actuality, all of this learning takes 9 days. The long days and late nights are all worth it, though, when my students tell me how much the session has impacted their lives. I can’t wait to see what the next two sessions bring, but for now, I get to take a break!
